EnergiaForum 2004 Tampere 27-29 Oct 2004
PRESS RELEASE
2 March 2004
The energy industry is now talking
about emission trade, investments and subcontracts
The future will be discussed
at the EnergiaForum 2004 event
The energy industry is currently making decisions that will have far-reaching effects on its future. The decision-makers, managers, experts and professionals in the industry will meet in Tampere at EnergiaForum 2004, the leading Finnish event in this field, on 27 to 29 Oct 2004. The event will cover the Energia 2004 Fair, Energy Day and the Energy Congress.
The EnergiaForum 2004 event is acquiring a decisive role in Finland’s energy industry. Up-to-date information and a comprehensive review of the alternatives available to the energy and electricity industries are needed to support investment decisions being made by the energy sector.
- The companies must be aware of current legislative changes and of the products and innovations that are being introduced on the market. As the number one forum for the energy industry, the EnergiaForum event offers, every other year, an excellent opportunity to see how the land really lies, says Timo Rajala, CEO of Pohjolan Voima and President of the EnergiaForum 2004 committee.
- Renewable energy sources, emission trades changes in electricity-market legislation, new technologies and energy production competitiveness are all very topical themes. As far as capacity is concerned, we are in an uncertain situation, since legislation is still undecided. Nevertheless, we must be able to make investments and plan for the future, Rajala emphasizes.
Renewable energy and the world of nuclear power
The Energia 2004 Fair will be the largest event ever in the history of the Energia Fairs. This time the Fair will be held for the eighth time.
– The exhibition space has been reserved very rapidly. The whole energy industry will present its expertise to a very large extent, says Jutta Kainua, project manager of Expomark.
The various alternatives for energy production and supply will be well displayed. For instance, special exhibition areas will be built for renewable energy sources and nuclear technology in Tampere Exhibition Centre Pirkkahalli. A whole Nuclear Forum will be set up in Hall C.
- We are also going to have exhibitors from abroad. The construction project for our new nuclear power plant is about to start, but the subcontractors have not all been chosen yet, Kainua points out.
The current topics of the 3-day Energia 2004 Fair cover decentralized solutions for energy production, electricity transfer and supply, planning and construction of energy and power plants, operation and maintenance of the plants, and fuels, as well as district heating and cooling. Also the disposal and recycling of power plant waste, the emission trade, the partners and instruments of energy trade, energy measurement, infrastructure, environment technology, and information and control systems will be on display.
A forum for high-level meetings
Finland’s energy policy and international topics will be the themes of the traditional Energy Day on Wednesday 27 October. The highlight of Energy Day will be the Energy Dinner, where the top management of the energy industry will meet.
The Energy Congress 2004 will be arranged for the seventh time on Thursday 28 October. Nearly 30 experts will bring up the themes of energy policy and technology in simultaneous sessions. The themes will cover the energy market in Europe and the Nordic Countries, renewable energy sources, the rules of network business, power plant technologies and energy technology development projects. During EnergiaForum 2004 several training events, seminars and information spots will also be organized.
The organizers of the EnergiaForum 2004 event are Expomark and Kunnossapitokoulutus, two business units of KP-Media Oy, in cooperation with the Energy Forum of Finland and The Finnish Maintenance Society.
